"the recipe of a Pimm's cocktail is much disputed over. If made correctly, it can be the perfect soothing refreshment to a sweltering summer's afternoon . James Pimm first thought the drink up at his oyster bar in the 1840s, where, due to its high level of quinine and herbs, it was taken as a digestive tonic. Fashionable society started to drink Pimm's as an enjoyable cocktail in the late 19th century, as it was sufficiently alcoholic for a lift, but weak enough to drink all afternoon.'

Bereidingswijze
'Pimm's is about as half as strong as other liqueurs ; Pimm's No.1 has a gin base, and Pimm's No. 2 a whiskey base, No.3 brandy, No4 rum, No.5 rye, and No. 6 vodka. Today, only No.1 and No. 6 are available to the consumer.
Many people cram every soft fruit they can lay their hands on into a huge ice-filled, lemonade laden vat. The result is an unprepossessing, sacharine fruit soup. The perfect way to make a delicious Pimm's cocktail is to keep it simple , and save the strawberries and other exotic fruit for salads and summer puddings," aldus ene Georgiana Cecil op het internet.
Haar recept luidt als volgt:
"1 measure of Pimm's No.1 per person;
The peel of half a cucumber;
Lots of bashed mint (bashing it brings out the flavour);
1 sliced fresh lime and lemon;
The juice of another lime and lemon;
Leave the mixture to marinade, and just before drinking, add the ice and top it up with half lemonade and half ginger ale. To use lemonade only makes the drink too sickly."
Ik hou het op: 25 ml gin met 50 ml Pimm's mengen in een gekoeld longdrink glas, wat limonade (naar keuze) aan toevoegen, en, wederom naar keuze, een garnituur aan fruit (citroen/limoen-sap, aardbei).

Wat vond je van dit recept?
Als je dit recept maak met "limonade" gaat het zeker mis!! Limonade in het nederlands is een aanmaak siroop, in het engels is het hetzelfde (ongeveer) als 7-up of Sprite!!
